Work Anniversary Reflection

Work anniversaries are precious.
Because with every completed cycle, we've had privileged access to an ecosystem so unique in skills and natural strengths, which, both individually and collectively, have made us better.
Joannie Hubert, CPHR, offers her thoughtful reflections on reaching the milestone of her second year with our team.

In just a few days, I'll be celebrating my second second year anniversary at SISMIK, a milestone that prompts reflection on the remarkable journey thus far. The accomplishments and growth I’ve achieved along with the team, in two short years are nothing short of astonishing.
Even more impressive is the realization of how much stability, confidence, and fulfillment one can cultivate in a role over this period. It’s my belief that truly unlocking one’s full potential in a position requires at least a couple of years—time well spent in deepening understanding and honing skills.
Once the foundational elements of trust and familiarity are in place, the job transforms into an exciting playground of evolution and grace. I'm eager to share the key factors that have enabled me to flourish at SISMIK and propelled me towards realizing my full potential:
- Building Trust: At the heart of our team's strength is our unity. I felt an immediate sense of support from my colleagues—a collective effort pushing in the same direction and a readiness to assist whenever challenges arise. This sense of camaraderie creates a robust safety net, amplifying my individual confidence and our collective efficacy.
- Authenticity and Acceptance: From the beginning, as early as my hiring process, SISMIK encouraged me to be my authentic self. Being seen and accepted without pretense boosts my psychological safety immeasurably. This environment of non-judgment and appreciation for each team member's unique contributions fosters a culture of growth and evolution—a critical component of any thriving team.
- Valuing Autonomy: My role grants me the autonomy to leverage my natural talents—managing priorities and multitasking with ease. This freedom to organize my tasks and schedule empowers me to excel, knowing that my approach is trusted and valued. Meanwhile, the supportive backdrop ensures I'm never isolated, fostering a balance between independence and collaboration.
- Prioritizing Well-being: Recognizing the importance of well-being and being able to contribute personally to this aspect of our culture fills me with hope for a sustainable future. Despite inevitable project pressures and fast-paced periods, we've established mechanisms to balance workload and maintain open dialogue about project progress and personal well-being. My contribution to our team's well-being, through weekly mindfulness sessions, reinforces our collective resilience and intentionality.
- Embracing Challenges and Learning: The opportunities for learning and self-improvement here seem boundless. Engaging with these challenges is not just about personal development; it's genuinely enjoyable. Reflecting on the positive impact we've had on our clients over the past two years fills me with pride. Each project is a new adventure, and witnessing the tangible difference we make in both the professional and personal lives of those we support is incredibly rewarding.
Looking back, I'm filled with pride for the path we've navigated, both as individuals and as a collective. The setbacks we've encountered were merely stepping stones for greater strides forward.
Peering into the future, the array of possibilities excites me. I want to conclude with a note of gratitude towards my team. Together, we've built something extraordinary over the past years. SISMIK isn't just a mission-driven organization; it's a catalyst for human development and a provider of remarkable growth opportunities.
Here's to the two years behind us and the bright path that lies ahead. Thank you, and cheers to our continued journey!
